Saving and Syncing Files Desktop Sync only syncs files from folders within the Shared and Private folders (see illustration, right). If you see a folder that is partially grayed-out – such as the Shared folder to the right – this means that only some of the subfolders are being synced. Folder icons convey whether the entire folder is selected for sync or only some subfolders within that folder have been selected for sync. Reasons for sync failure are displayed in the sync logs. If there is a problem with synchronizing a file, Egnyte will display a red x against the file. A file that has synchronized successfully will display a green check mark against it. Visual Indicators for Sync Progress The sync status of files and folders can be tracked by viewing the status indicator on each file. Network and external drive locations are not supported.Īccessing Desktop Sync Once installed, you can access files by clicking on the ‘Egnyte’ shortcut that appears on your desktop. The Desktop Sync data folder should be on a local hard drive. To install and run Desktop Sync, you must be logged in as a user with administrative rights to the computer. For these scenarios Egnyte recommends installing Storage Sync or Storage Sync for NETGEAR. Desktop Sync is also not designed to operate on a server with multiple user accessing files through local permissions. Installing multiple instances of Desktop Sync on a single computer that is shared by several users is not supported.
